Via the integrated temperature sensor and in combination with a KNX heating actuator with integrated controller, the Gira presence detector Mini for KNX can additionally control the room temperature. With several temperature sensors in the room, the additional measuring point on the ceiling also enables temperatures to be measured even more accurately.

Both variants of the Gira presence detector Mini for KNX distinguish between an initial detection phase and a presence phase. During the initial detection phase, the sensor operates with reduced sensitivity to prevent false triggering. If sufficient movement is detected, the presence detector automatically switches to the presence phase with very high sensitivity, so that even the smallest movements are reliably detected. This two-stage process significantly increases detection quality and reduces unwanted switching operations.

A wide range of parameters can be set separately for day and night – in both the Standard and Komfort variants. For example, the Gira presence detector Mini can activate lighting at 100% brightness throughout the day and at only 20% at night. This increases comfort, reduces glare and saves energy.

An integrated brightness sensor enables daylight-dependent control. Light functions can thus be triggered automatically depending on the current ambient light. In the Komfort variant, multiple brightness limits are available for differentiated logic functions.

Both variants regularly send a sign of life (known as a heartbeat) in the KNX system. If this signal is not present, a server or a building management system can trigger an alarm, for example to inform the facility manager that the presence detector should be checked. This function is of particular relevance for commercial and public buildings.

The Gira presence detector Mini for KNX can be installed flexibly. As standard, products are shipped in the ‘ceiling-mounted’ mounting type for indoor use. To install the devices, the installer cuts a hole in the ceiling. The devices are then inserted into the ceiling and locked in place with spring clamps. In combination with the different mounting kits for flush-mounted box installation and surface-mounted installation, it is possible to install the devices in existing flush-mounted boxes or to mount them on surfaces unsuitable for flush-mounted boxes. Its IP 44 protection means that it can even be installed outdoors or in moistureprone areas. The design rings can be painted over. Suitable mounting kits are available and allow for easy adaptation to different structural conditions.

ETS software carries out start-up. The KNX product database is based on the software used by the Gira KNX presence detectors, meaning that no re-familiarisation period will be necessary.
